4 Plants to forage in April

4 Plants to forage in April

One of the ways you can start homesteading is by learning to identify plants (edible and non-edible) in your area. I’ve slowly been using Google and books to identify plants, and more recently, the LikeThat Garden app. Basically, you take a photo and it scans photos in its database to find a match. It’s not 100% accurate, but it is super helpful.

The following is just a list, but I’ll be adding their uses as I go along, so pin this for later, and keep checking back to be linked to their uses! Keep in mind, this is for informational purposes only. If you choose to forage/eat these plants you do so at your own risk. Just be smart! Read my full disclaimer here. And now, here are some plants I’ve noticed on our property and around the area:

Violets

Violets are edible. Who knew? I certainly didn’t. I just thought, “purple flower. pretty.”

 Lemon balm

lemon balm

I want to pour blessings over the woman who lived in this house before us, because there is lemon balm everywhere surrounding the house. Learn more about it here!

Dandelion

Those “pesky” weeds are wishes! And edible. And medicinal. Read more about dandelions here.

Clover

I’m sure you’ve seen it. It grows everywhere! But I never once thought it could be edible. Totally is.

Don’t forget to pin this so you can come back to it later!
