  • 2 TBSP apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 drop On Guard blend
  • 1 drop lemon essential oil
  • 1 cup warm water

Why apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar may help in breaking down fats in the body thus helping you lose weight. It may also help with diabetes and blood sugar control by blocking some of the digestion of starch (source for both here). It can also soothe a sore throat, relieve congestion and indigestion, as well as help lower cholesterol (source). So basically, drinking apple cider sounds gross, but it’s really good for you. And you’ll want to buy the kind that it cloudy looking–or apple cider vinegar containing the “mother”. That’s the cloudy crap and it’s good for you.

Why lemon

Lemons are full of Vitamins A, B, and C and have been used to relieve gas (Stuart). If you have a respiratory problem, such as a cough, cold, flu, or chest infection, use lemon (Chevallier, 2016). Not only is it good or respiratory problems, lemon can be used to treat mouth sores, gingivitis, and sore throat (Chevallier, 2016). It has also been used to reduce fevers.

Why On Guard blend

On Guard is a DoTerra blend to support healthy immune and respiratory function, protect against environmental threats, promote healthy circulation, and support the body’s antioxidant defenses (DoTerra, 2016). The On Guard blend contains clove. Clove contains Eugenol which fights bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites (AMA, 1999). The Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine (2016) also says that clove is antispasmodic in regards to digestion and can help relieve bloating and gas.

So basically, try out this apple cider vinegar detox drink and see how it works for you!
