Chickens in the Coop

Chickens in the Coop

We have our chickens in the coop! All 16 of them are moved in, and I’m pretty sure they love it. They are always right by the door every morning, ready to scratch around in the grass. The chickens have been in the coop for about two weeks now. Even though we have a small door for them we always open the big door. I love watching them all jump out:

We’ve found out that they love watermelon, apples, cabbage, and lettuce. The boys both love them, and I’ll just let the pictures speak for themselves:

We haven’t named any of them because they pretty much all look the same to me, and I’m not creative enough to come up with 16 different names! We’ve been keeping our anatolian/karakachan shepherd mix puppy close by on a cable so he can get used to them being around and as a predator deterrent. I’m not sure I trust him fully to be out and about without supervision around the chickens yet.

Stay tuned to see how we trained our chickens…we’re still working on it but so far it’s really easy 🙂
