I made some plantain vinegar to add to my first aid cabinet and it’s so simple to make! You only need plantain leaves, apple cider vinegar, a knife, and a jar.
Why plantain vinegar
Vinegar helps both dry and oil skin by acting as an astringent–or tightening the pores. Since plantain is known to help skin conditions like eczema and soften cold sores and skin, I wanted to make a vinegar to use as a natural toner and cleaner for cuts and scrapes. Plantain is also good for bug bites and stings as it helps to relieve pain and draw out poison.
So get yourself a container and look in your yard for some plantain leaves. If you don’t have any you can find plantain leaves online, usually at Moutain Rose herbs (not an affiliate, I just know they have herbs). You can use any vinegar you want, but I chose apple cider vinegar.
All you need to do is cut your leaves then put them in your container.
Cover the leaves with vinegar and close the container. Place the container in a sunny location for 2-3 weeks. You’ll need to shake it daily, so make sure it’s in a place where you will see it often.
That’s it! Make sure you subscribe below so you can see the update in a couple of weeks. It’s day 3 and my plantain vinegar is starting to turn a grayish blue color. Super neat!
