DIY sea salt bath with essential oils

If you need a moment to relax, then this DIY sea salt bath with essential oils is for you! Honestly, I made this as a last-minute Mother’s Day gift but was lucky to have some leftover to use for myself. We’re in the process of remodeling our bathroom and once it’s finished I’ll be christening it with a bath. I can’t wait.

This is super simple, but if you’re still unsure of how to do this, then you can join my oil education group and watch the live tutorial I did (bit.ly/folkcoessentials).

Basically, all you’ll need is:

  • 1 cup sea salt (or Epsom salt)
  • 10 drops essential oil or blend of your choice
  • Any flowers you’d like to add (I used violets and lilacs, but redbuds, lavender flowers, or roses would be great too!)
  • A jar to store your salts in

Combine everything in a bowl and stir. That’s literally it. Here is what I used and why (I made extra to give away as gifts):

  • 4 cups dead sea salt
  • 10 drops geranium
  • 10 drops juniper berry
  • 10 drops patchouli
  • 10 drops lavender
  • dried lilac flowers
  • violet flowers

Sea salt

Salt naturally contains minerals that are great for our skin; calcium (strengthens skin), magnesium (antioxidant, boosts skin health), potassium and zinc (helps to energize and renew the skin), as well as boron and strontium (reduces redness). So a salt bath alone is great, but adding essential oils makes it better.

Geranium

Geranium helps to balance hormones in the body, but is also moisturizing and helps to balance dry or oily hair and skin.

Juniper berry

Juniper berry is a cleansing oil that helps to reduce red, dry, and itchy skin. It’s also a good oil for tension, sadness, and worry.

Patchouli

Though patchouli smells like a dirty sock, it smells amazing when blended with other oils and has good benefits as well. Like all of the oils in this blend, it’s really good for the skin and helps to soothe rough areas and reduce redness. It’s also great for releasing worry.

Lavender

Lavender is a great oil for dry, itchy skin, but also for emotional balance. It’s an oil that that helps to relieve sadness, worry, and tension. You can learn about more ways to use lavender here.
