This DIY sugar scrub is one of the easiest self-care products you can make, and it only takes a few ingredients and five minutes. That’s it! I use it in place of shaving cream and commercial facial scrubs.
I make this with more coconut oil than sugar because you don’t need like, a super grainy mixture to get the scrub effect. If you’d rather have a grainy/more sugary scrub then hit up my ladies Kaetlyn and Kate who both make their own sugar scrubs too.
DIY Sugar scrub with essential oils
- 1/4 cup coconut oil (it will need to be softened–if yours is too hard just heat an inch or two of water in a pot to boiling, remove from heat, and place a jar of coconut oil in the water until soft)
- 1-2 tablespoons of sugar (the more sugar you add the grittier it will be)
- 5-8 drops of essential oils (I used patchouli and juniper berry)
Combine the coconut oil and sugar, then add your essential oils. Store in a jar.
Honestly, the next time I make this recipe I’ll quadruple it. So one cup coconut oil, 4-6 tablespoons of sugar, and 20-24 drops of essential oils.
Patchouli is a smell that takes some getting used to–but I love combining it with other oils because then it smells like magic. It helps with a ton of different skin issues and helps to soothe dryness, redness, and itchiness.
Juniper berry is great for soothing breakouts on the skin, as well as redness, dryness, and itchiness. It also has tightening properties, so I love it for facial things. Oh and it is a grounding oil which I love–because I need all the peace and calming I can get.
